This is just a fun little post I'm writing for those who are reading my book series The Silverlock Sisters. Here's some facts I'm willing to share about the series. Some are behind-the-scenes trivia and some are little tid-bits of lore and world-building that you might not get in the books, but I can tell you all about here. So, let's get into it:
The Silverlock Sisters were originally fan-characters I used in Pokémon fanfics before they became characters for their own series.
Selina Cooper was inspired by characters such as Raven from Teen Titans and Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family. She was also created as a Pokémon character originally before I reworked her for this series.
Michael Silverlock, father of Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire, was named after my dad.
Draven, the villain of the first two books, was named after a Robot Wars contestant, who in turn was named after Eric Draven, the protagonist of The Crow comic book series and film adaptation starring Brandon Lee.
Draven's daughter, Alice Daniels, has a friend named Lewis Callow. His name is a reference to Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice in Wonderland.
Alice's original name was "Alicia" before it was changed to "Alice".
The second book, Emerald Silverlock: A Cruise To Adventure was inspired by an actual holiday cruise around Norway I went on. The places the characters go to in the book are the same places I visited on the cruise (Stavanger, Alesund, Olden and Hagesund).
Beauty and the Beast is a true story in this universe, not a fairy-tale. Any book or film adaptation is pretty much based on a true story here. In this universe, "Beauty" was a real rich woman who had to take her father's place as prisoner in a beast's castle for his sake and the two did find love.
Little Red Riding Hood isn't a fairy-tale in this universe either, she was a real person and she's Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire's ancestor. Emerald is the spitting image of Red Riding Hood.
Two people very similar to Callum and Rayla from The Dragon Prince existed in this universe at one point. Their lives form the story behind a popular legend told in a fictional Scottish village that gives the message that "love can happen with anyone".
The third book Sapphire Silverlock: The Curse of the Dragon Tattoo was inspired by an episode of Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue, namely the concept of a cursed tattoo that could potentially kill the person branded with it.
The Curse of the Dragon Tattoo also takes place partially in Wales, a country I've been on holiday twice in. I've even been up the famous mountain, Snowdon, which will make an appearance in the story.
The fourth book The Silverlock Sisters: Alien Hostage will take place in Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. I've actually visited Giant's Causeway and that visit inspired the setting we'll get in the book.
There will be a villain in the series who I modelled after David Tennant. You'll see for yourself when I do a new "Meet the Characters" essay to show off the rest of the characters in the series.
Ruby and Emerald are straight while Sapphire is a lesbian.
Selina is also a lesbian while her brother Jaime is bisexual.
Selina's mother, Betty Cooper, is modelled after Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service, albeit much older. The Cooper family cat is also named after Kiki.
The Headless Horseman in this universe is a story partially inspired by true events. During the war on mankind, Lord Hallows revived a headless corpse and it would ride on a horse into battle, thus inspiring the story of The Headless Horseman.
Lord Hallows is named "Hallows" because he was first encountered on Halloween night. He gave himself the "Lord" title for it makes him feel powerful.
Gorochen the Dragon Master's name is entirely made up. I don't know how I made up the name "Gorochen", but I did. In this universe, it's an old word meaning "ruler".
The sixth book The Silverlock Sisters: Night of the Vampires will be inspired by an idea from my brother, whom you best know as Captain Conroy over on YouTube. The story idea came about when I asked him what creatures he'd like to see the Silverlock sisters face, and he suggested a vampire.
Captain Conroy is also the creator of Lord Hallows, and he gave me permission to use the character as the main villain of these books.
Selina Cooper changes the colour of her hair streak every so often. It's red in the first book, it's purple in the second book and in the third book, you'll see it in mint green and later blue.
Ruby's favourite food is pizza. Emerald favours sweet foods like cakes, doughnuts and such and Sapphire prefers a healthy, plain diet but isn't afraid to treat herself on occasion.
When they dine at their Uncle Gareth's pub, Ruby's favourite dish to order is Cumberland sausages, Emerald's favourite dish to order is fish and chips and Sapphire's favourite dish to order is chicken carbonara. All three of them love to order the triple chocolate brookie pudding (a mix of brownies and cookie dough) for dessert. Their parents like to order steak and ale pie (Michael) and fish goujons (Annie).
Ruby is a Pokémon fan, as is her best friend Karim. Ruby's favourite Pokémon is Cinderace and Karim's favourite Pokémon is Salamence. With the card game, Ruby plays a Fire-type deck and Karim plays a Dragon-type deck.
Tony Summers nicknames Emerald "little gem". The nickname came from a comment he made when he said Emerald's eyes are like sparkling little gems. The name stuck ever since.
Cinderella is Emerald's favourite Disney princess and is her role model. She looks to Cinderella as an example of how to be kind to others and never treat anyone badly.
Sapphire is a Transformers fan and has a collection of toys in her room. It's the only thing she collects other than books.
Sapphire's favourite books include Alex Rider, Doctor Who novels, Pride and Prejudice and Grimm's fairytales. Her least favourite books include Harry Potter and Twilight.
The Silverlock family's pet dog, Wilson, is based on and named after my own pet dog.
Ruby's basketball team she plays with are expies of Mayday Parker from Spider-Girl, Luz Noceda and Amity Blight from The Owl House and Rayla from The Dragon Prince.
The supernatural was first discovered and made public on August the 21st 1807 when a werewolf was seen. The biggest and most notable discovery made was by Matthew Harlow, who found a witch's spell book. He became the first person to be known as a "supernatural explorer".
Due to its many connections to the supernatural, Galarsfield often hosts the biggest Halloween celebrations and is home to more Halloween enthusiasts that anywhere else in the country.
Emerald is the only one out of herself and her sisters to have a phobia. In her case, she's very claustrophobic.
Due to her sheltered lifestyle, Selina isn't very keen on flying. This is based on myself as I hate flying too.
Karim used to play Dungeons and Dragons with his cousins back when he was little. He was often the warrior class when playing.
Ruby's favourite dinosaurs are raptors, namely Velociraptor and Deinonychus. Emerald's favourite dinosaur is Stegosaurus. Sapphire's favourite dinosaurs are longnecks, specifically Diplodocus and Brachiosaurus.
After joining the hunters, Draven's first kill was the yeti that rendered him a cyborg. The experience is why he doesn't act out of revenge as killing the yeti didn't make him feel any better.
Luna the Luminoid was based on manta rays and whales and a friend of mine coined up the species name "Luminoid".
The sixth book Night of the Vampires will introduce a character who is modelled after voice-actress Cristina "Vee" Valenzuela (best known for voicing Marinette Dupain-Cheng in Miraculous Ladybug). The character was inspired by an Instagram post of her dressed in dark, gothic attire.
My friend and fellow author R.M. Walls (Author of The Solitale Vampires and Corvina: Daughter of Death) and I teamed up to write a prequel to the series which is titled Gloria Burton and the Agents of Rimor. The prequel IS canon to the series and Gloria Burton herself will appear in the fifth book, The Silverlock Sisters: The Boy At Thunder Manor.
There will be another spin-off to the series focused on the character of Alice Daniels, Draven's daughter and second-in-command of the hunters. The spin-off will be penned by R.M. Walls with additional writing and editing from me.
Despite what the Children of Gorochen believe, they are NOT dragons. They are human, but they have magic powers derived from dragon magic. How they got those abilities is unknown.
Emerald Silverlock: A Cruise To Adventure was originally going to feature an actual troll, but it was dropped out to avoid any stereotypes about Norway. I was going to have a creature known as a Hydrogriff (based on the Nokk from Norwegian folklore) instead, but I dropped that too as having a creature to protect along with the cruise story, the Staff of Wishes and having to cure Tony's illness made the story too crowded and the Hydrogriff was the least important element in the story, so it had to go.
In the books, I wrote Draven with British actor Jeremy Irons's voice in mind. If my books ever got adapted into film, I'd want Jeremy Irons to play Draven. I also write Howard Cooper with British actor Ian McKellen's voice in mind.
Santa Claus is real in this universe, as is the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny and even the Boogeyman. The supernatural is fact in this universe, so this should hardly be a surprise.
Selina Cooper considers Wednesday Addams to be her spirit animal (or human in this case) and even at Christmas would prefer to dress like her than in bright colours.
Idris Hopper is named after and modeled after British actor Idris Elba and many of the agents working for Rimor are named after actors Idris has worked with (Paul after Paul McGann) or characters in films Idris has been in (Judy after Judy Hopps in Zootropolis).
Out of the Silverlock sisters, Ruby is my favourite of the trio in terms of character and design while Emerald is my favourite to write for due to her sweet personality.
And that's it everybody. Hope you found these facts interesting and will consider giving The Silverlock Sisters books a look at!

Having read it, I am surprised Betty is based on Kiki. I hadn’t any idea Selina was also gonna be a Pokémon character until you had her form as herself in the book :)
Wow, very great info and facts from your series and cast, as I can see that.
Plus the releases of each book seems fitting and ideal for ya. :)
These are some neat facts. Some of these I think we already know but as the series goes on, I’d like to see another list like this. ^^
